About
Drawing and exploring different art techniques has always been a companion and therapeutic expression for me. Finding ways to express and relate to the natural world has also been an important element in my art. I grew up in Norfolk and moved to Cornwall in 2015 to study human geography at university. I studied the geographies of people and nature, from social dialogues between mining communities to analysing depictions of landscape through famous artists and gardeners such as Thomas Gainsborough and Humphry Repton.
I developed a strong sense of curiosity for the world and I went on to study a masters at the Eden Project exploring the effects of human disturbance on nature recovery. During this time, I was introduced to the book Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer which quickly became a grounding presence for me to observe nature and also learn how to use these sensitivities to inspire my art. I continue to be inspired by influences which explore our relationship to the 'more-than-human' and hope to use these influences to guide my artistic practice as it develops.
